Evangelicals for Perry Endorses Newt Gingrich for President

Gov. Rick Perry has the strongest record of accomplishment of all the GOP candidates ranging from his outstanding record of jobs-creation in Texas to practical, tangible pro-life victories. While President Obama and Mitt Romney tout their "visions" for the country, Gov. Perry actually has the proven record to show he means what he says. Rick Perry had amazing potential to bring together the "three-legged stool" of social, fiscal, and defense conservatives and bridge the gap between the tea parties and the Republican establishment. Gov. Perry's Cut, Balance, and Grow, Energizing American Jobs and Security, and Overhaul Washington plans are outstanding and just what the country needs to return to limited government, constitutional republicanism, individual responsibility, fiscal responsibility, and increased liberty.

Contrary to the opinion of some Romney supporters, evangelical opposition to Romney's candidacy is about his record and not any imagined anti-Mormon bigotry. Mitt Romney has been on all sides of all the major issues.  Mitt Romney is indeed a conservative of convenience who has adjusted his views to reflect whatever is necessary to win the next election and therefore cannot be trusted to follow through when it is time to fight for his current policy positions. The majority of conservatives do not want Mitt Romney to be nominee and his nomination is not inevitable. There is time for conservatives to unite behind a superior candidate.

In 2008, the conservative vote was split between Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, and Mitt Romney as John McCain secured the victory. After the debacle of Sen. McCain's nomination many of us vowed to never let this happen again and yet conservatives remain divided in 2012 while the establishment candidate cruises to early victories. While we greatly desire to fight on with Gov. Perry until the end, it is time to put our money where our mouth is in an attempt to avoid a repeat of the mistake of a divided conservative field. There remains a small chance that Gov. Perry will come back in South Carolina and enjoy a resurgence of his campaign heading into Florida and beyond but it is highly unlikely. Rather than waiting for the results of South Carolina before pursuing consolidation, we have chosen to make whatever small contribution we can before the votes are cast. Therefore, we are joining Evangelicals With Newt in endorsing Speaker Gingrich for President.

It has been our privilege to work toward the nomination of Gov. Perry these past several months and are greatly disappointed things did not turn out as we had hoped. The cause, however, is greater than any one person and we look forward to continuing to fight the good fight as we throw our support behind Speaker Gingrich. If it, in fact, turns out that Gov. Perry does not finish ahead of Newt and Sen. Santorum in S.C., we hope he will suspend his campaign, endorse Newt Gingrich, and encourage his supporters to do the same. If Sen. Santorum finishes behind the Speaker in S.C., we would likewise hope he will drop out of the race for the sake of a united conservative effort in Florida.

  1. You are a disgusting example of a supporter for publicizing this before Perry's bid in S.C.

How dare you throw a man under the bus with such contradictory tripe just before his chance to make a stand? And for GINGRICH?!?!?!? A self-declared progressive in contrast most of his life to everything Perry stands for? Support who you want, but to give this to perry foes to use as a weapon shows how shallow of a supporter you were, how shallow your character is and how pathetic of a political future you have

Mr. Perry is a great man, a good man with the best for this country centered in his heart; and in my opinion, he would make a fine Vice President to stand with Newt...God Bless you Mr. Perry.

  3. Perry would be a great candidate. It's unfortunate that he never seemed to gain traction, for whatever reason. I like him a lot. With that said, I think it is important to get a solid conservative into the White House. Mitt Romney certainly is not that man. A united conservative base is the only way to beat Romney. Consolidating the support behind Newt is the best way to make sure we have a conservative nominee to go against Obama next November.

    1. How can you say Newt is a conservative? When has a progressive become known as a conservative? Newt has done some good things yes but he was also responable for Nafta and Gaft, plus is in league with Telfair the author with the globalist agenda. He wrote the book the third wave and Telfair and his wife was even at Newt's own honorary acceptance speach as speaker of the house. Newt. is the only speaker of the house to get fined and thrown out. Newt cheating on his first wife who had cancer is a direct reflection of Newt's character and signs of what he is truly is, a progressive pretending to be a conservative. Yes he is a good debater, many crony politicians are. His actions as a husband and as a speaker of the house is a very clear warning to the type of person he is. We cannot fix this country by simply electing a conservative. First step to fixing this country is fixing ourselves, the individual. If we keep electing these progressive and/or fake politicians expecting a different result voting the same type of candidate in everytime that isn't going to change our growing problems. Character first needs to be what is looked at in a candidate then look at his actions and ideals. Newt is a adulterer, a crook, progressive and a globalist idealist just like Obama. Only positive thing anybody can say is he is a great debater. As president his job is not to debate, it is to lead.

  4. Perry had plen of traction until all of you conservative candidate hoppers made a joke out of the polls and gave the media the storyline they wanted with all this indecision. Gingrich is NOT the conservative choice, which is why it upsets me that they are throwing him under the bus here. I say NEWT (who has less delegates than perry) should drop out and all unite behind Perry.

    How you like them apples?

    1. I agree Eddie.... Gingrich has absolutely no morals, and will never reduce the corruption in Washington DC because he is and always has been corrupt himself! Just like Perry said before, "If you will cheat on your wife, you will cheat on anyone." And Gingrich has never governed anything either. He may have been Speaker of the House, but was forced to step down due to ethics violations. Does that sound like someone we should trust in our White House? He's not the conservative candidate that this country has been looking for... that we need so desperately to fix this country's economy. There's only one man for that job, and that's Texas Governor Rick Perry!!!!!

  7. Apples are delicious. The polls don't show Perry with any real chance of winning SC though. Newt is the only one who is even close. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to consolidate the vote behind the candidate who is polling in last place. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/sc/south_carolina_republican_presidential_primary-1590.html

  8. It calls for one to question the character of some Evangelical Leaders, and I stress some Evangelical Leaders, who value their religion as the core of who they are, what they identify with, end up supporting Non-Evangelicals. You have to ask, just how much do Some Evangelical Leaders really believe in their core values?

Rick Perry is the only prominent Evangelical Christian left in the field otherwise made up of two Catholics, a Mormon and Rep. Ron Paul, who rarely talks about his religious beliefs.

  9. I am just not believing you people. Talk about the epitome of Fair Weather Friends! If people would quit bowing to the establishment and the money makers and grow a backbone, Gov. Perry would win. He is in a war with the established politicians that don't want their gravy train removed and the media they control. We need Gov. Perry! He is the People's Choice whenver they hear him, we just need to get him out from behind the curtain they are trying (and, incidently, you are helping them) to throw over him so know one hears him!!! Grow a backbone and stand firm!! And just a note for info...I am not even from TX, never lived in TX (outside of AF Basic Trng), and live in AL!! Now, amplify his voice and his message and quit being a wimp!!

  10. Newt was for TARP, bad mouthed Paul Ryan's plan, sat on couch with Nancy Pelosi, is for amnesty, and on and on. That's conservatism?

I will admit he is less big government than Santorum, but still inside beltway big government guy.

  11. Then the name of the group should change...right now, it looks like a bunch of losers run this site. Moreover, how can you go from Perry to a known wife cheater (twice)?? Isn't that ungodly?

  12. Let he is without sin cast the first stone! He, like MANY others made some poor choices in his personal life...I'm looking at his service to this country and believe his ability to work within the system that the present administration is 'funamentally' tearing down! He knows how to balance a budget for our nation! He did it for 4 years! It had not been done for generations before and hasn't been done since! He will offer hope to those that need a hand up (not a hand out, with OUR tax dollars)thru education and accountability...He will abolish ObamaCare and fire every stinking ZARR working in the White House (OUR House, NOT Obama's house, as he likes to call it)...he will protect our 2nd amendment and clean out our corrupt DOJ...That's just for starters! Rick Perry may be a moral man and a wonderful Governer but the situation our nation is in calls for an experienced man that can manuever and operate in DC!

    1. OMG... Are you hearing yourself??? Newt may have balanced a budget for 4 years, but Perry has balanced 6 budgets with a legislature that meets 140 days every other year!!! And if you think Newt will repeal Obamacare, you are crazy!!! He was for mandates even before Romney was..... and he is also for cap and trade!!! What in the world is conservative about him??? NOTHING!!!!! You are a complete sellout to this country, and will be held responsible by me and many others for the continued destruction of this country and it's freedoms if your man happens to snag the nomination, cause there's no way in hell he can beat Obama with a record like his......

    2. Well, if Romney wins the nomination I guess you will also be held responsible since you split the conservative vote, right?

  13. You're not "evangelicals" and decency demands an end to your charade. Evangelicals live by the teachings of the Gospel and Christianity. And those teachings include standing up for one's principles and convictions. SHAME ON YOU FOR YOUR HYPOCRISY! Change your name, you frauds and stop using a decent man's name and reputation as your hook!

You're "disappointed things did not turn out as we had hoped." You have no idea the depths of disappointment that lie ahead for you as you drift from candidate to candidate sinking deeper into an abysmal failure of your own making. You have no idea HOW things will turn out yet, you sad gathering of quitters. NOTHING is over.

The only thing you said of substance is that "The cause, however, is greater than any one person..." That is why true evangelicals, people of faith and conservative values will continue standing by Rick Perry fighting the good fight. But, you won't be among us. Instead, you'll be struggling to find an anchor of conservative principles, courage and a record of achievements upon which OUR candidate, Rick Perry stands. A record that you traded for failures, betrayals, subterfuge, smoke, mirrors and disgrace. I say good riddance to bad rubbish.

  14. Hey I understand.
I heard that Turkey had endorsed Gingrich too.

  15. I find this so offensive on so many levels. Did you pinheads REALLY believe that insulting our intelligence and allegiance with smarmy words from a group of sycophantic, oily, obsequious, wheedling wannabe political kingmakers would sway those of us who support Rick Perry with everything to offer over to Newt Gingrich with NOTHING to offer? We actually love our candidate while on the other hand, YOU are just "putting your money where your mouth is" and how you can stomach the stench is beyond my imagining.

Take stock of these comments and note: After the election in November, no matter who wins the nomination, no matter who wins the presidency, your treachery and betrayal will be remembered.

  16. Isn't this a pro-Perry page? so why are you endorsing Newt Gingrich? Perry is NOT a quitter and neither should any of us betray him.

GOVERNOR PERRY DOES NOT DESERVE THIS!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Allow me to make something perfectly clear. Your cowardice and lack of resolve IN NO WAY reflects those attributes consistently displayed by Governor Perry. To add to your hypocrisy is your "second choice". NOTICE: He's much like a clown. The make-up you see today will change in time, just as it ALWAYS has with Newt. He is the wizard of OZ, blowing smoke when he speaks and turning all the correct wheels for effect. Your support for him speaks ONLY for your intellect and ability to research and reason. But now, you have abandoned ship. We look for you to soon be screaming for a life preserver when his ship sinks. Did I personally mention I'm hard of hearing and my devotion to friends is unyielding?

  18. With only 2.01% of the delegates chosen so far and over 60% to be chosen after April, this is not the time to force someone with the money and the organization out of the race, because other so-called "conservative" candidates who DON'T have either are splitting the conservative vote. Go ahead and whimp out and be quitters so early in the game. Gov. Perry hopefully, won't.

    ReplyDelete
  19. WOW! This site was a bit odd: 'Evangelicals for Perry endorse Gingrich', but I kind of see the point: Perry really fumbled in the beginning and it took a good while to get his stride back. He is a good man apparently and given long enough, may prove to be a good candidate. Before long though if the Romney machine is to be stopped, some people are going to have to give. As much as I detest some of what Gingrich has done, people are people and fall short... God is able to forgive and we should too. Be skeptical when republicans criticize Gingrich. Ruling class, Establishment Republicans don't like folks like Newt coming in and upsetting their applecarts, anymore than the money changers in the temple did when Jesus upset theirs!
Thank you for keeping the country, rather than your pride, first in your decisions and God Bless you!

  20. Please disable your website as you are being dishonest. You apparently are not for Rick Perry and therefore your page is a lie and it would be dishonest to keep it up. You have disgraced this fine man in a very non-christian manner.

  21. I cannot believe my eyes. Of all the people in the world I would expect evangelicals to have the most hope and the most faith that the Lord's will be done. To stop your support, your prayers and belief in Governor Perry's ability to gain the nomination after the outcome of 2 states elections is unthinkable. Quitters! That is what you are. Rick Perry is the ONLY candidate in the race who is a true evangelical and deserving of our vote. Your actions remind me of an incident that I experience rigt before the surge during the war in Iraq. Two men habitually stood at the corner of a Starbuck's restaurant at a busy intersection. They held up a sign about stopping the war in Iraq. One day as I drove by a young woman had joined them and held up a sign that said, "What would Jesus say?". I quickly rolled down my window and as I was parallel to them I yelled, "Onward Christian Soldiers!" You people are not deserving of being part of the Lord's Army. You retreat before the real fighting has begun, and you choose to endorse a man who has broken the Commandments, not once, but twice that we know of us. Shame on all of you. Change your name. You're a disgrace!

  22. You page may at one time have been sincere but you are not the official Evangelicals for Rick Perry, which is an offshoot of the official campaign page. You need to remove ALL PHOTOS AND LOGOS FROM THE RICK PERRY CAMPAIGN BECAUSE YOU DO NOT REPRESENT THE CAMPAIGN AND YOU HAVE BEEN DECEIVING PEOPLE TODAY HERE, ON TWITTER AND FACEBOOK AND I WAS IN THE RIGHT TO CALL YOU ON IT AND DEMAND THAT YOU NOT USE HIS NAME. WHEN I CALLED YOU ON IT ON THE FACEBOOK PAGE EARLIER, YOU MADE A NASTY REMARK TO ME AND BLOCKED ME. I HAVE BEEN ON YOUR E-MAIL LIST SINCE THE BEGINNING AND HAD ONE IN MY INBOX TODAY WHICH NOW MEANS NOTHING. I UNSUBSCRIBED. YOU ARE A DECEIVER, A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING! SHAMEFUL BEHAVIOR. CHANGE YOUR NAME, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO USE ANY OF GOVERNOR PERRY'S PHOTOS OR LOGOS ON YOUR PAGE AT ALL AND ARE IMPERSONATING A REAL PAGE. A REAL EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN WOULD NOT DECEIVE PEOPLE! Yes, I was screaming very loudly at you and I find your behavior despicable and dishonest. You need to repent for being a dishonest Christian.

I know you are upset but you might want to take a second to cool down and rethink some things.
